When you visit the Auction House or a vendor, prices are gathered by the mod for upload once you exit the game. Prices for items you place up for auction, bid on, or view in the Auction House are collected. The amount of data gathered is relatively small, however, and should not impact game performance.
Please note that our launcher does not run while you are playing (see below), so password theft is not a concern.
Yes, and yes. Our UI module is free and will always remain free. All the data on wowecon.com is also free, although we do offer a wowecon premium service that provides additional features, charts, and alerts. Our premium service may enhance the mod (for example, by allowing you to track your in-game sales on the web), but basic mod functionality does not require any subscription, account, or fee.
Most certainly not. In fact, it is impossible to collect user passwords or usernames from a World of Warcraft UI modification, and you can verify yourself that the WOWEcon program itself quits before World of Warcraft starts up, and the only thing left running is an easily verified, simple batch/shell script.
Vendor prices are calculated for every unknown item in a bag whenever a merchant is visited. The vendor price we provide is the most common vendor price seen for that item.
The Auction price is the median amount an item is sold or purchased for in the Auction House in the past 90 days. When a "sell" auction ends, the subsequent in-game mail message is examined to determine success and the selling price. Similarly, each bid or buyout is correlated with its corresponding in-game mail message to determine if it was the winning bid.
Yes! Using the Setup screen in the Launcher you can select one or more realms for realm-specific Auction prices. When available, a realm-specific price will be displayed in-game, however if no Auction price exists for your realm, the cross-server price for your faction will be shown. Vendor prices are not realm-specific.
If an asterisk appears next to a price on your tooltip, that means we have not seen that item sold on your server and faction, and the price displayed is for your faction on all servers. For example, if no Mooncloth Shoulders have been seen on US / Icecrown / Horde, you will see the All Servers / Horde price with an asterisk.
The number in parenthesis is the volume of that item seen on your server/faction, or your faction on all servers if it appears along with an asterisk (see above).
New realms are automatically added to our list when we get new price data from them. If your realm is not yet in the list, play as normally, and check back the next day.
Yes! The WOWEcon.com PriceMod should work with any other installed modules including other launcher/patcher programs such as Cosmos. To run a third party executable such as Cosmos.exe, select it in the Launcher Setup screen and run the WOWEcon Launcher directly each time you play World of Warcraft. Please note that the Cosmos "Keep Interface Directory Clean" checkbox must be unchecked to prevent it from deleting PriceMod files.
Yes! The Mac version is available from our downloads page
